Talline Home Tour: A New Northwest Bend Home with a Sprinter Van Garage

Talline Bend new construction home, Northwest Bend Oregon

The short answer

Talline is Northwest Bend’s newest development, about a mile from Shevlin Park, with a commercial area planned across the street. In this tour I walk through a four-bedroom modern Craftsman home by Structure Development NW on Skyline Ranch Road. It has a three-car garage with a Sprinter-height third bay, a chef’s kitchen, single-level living from the alley and low-water landscaping. If you want new construction on Bend’s west side with room for the van, the skis and the paddle boards, Talline is worth a look.

How big is a Sprinter van garage bay?

Many new homes in Bend have three-car garages, but a Sprinter-height bay is the feature people ask me about. In this home, two standard bays sit on one side and the taller third bay on the other. It fits a Sprinter van and maybe a short RV, though I wouldn’t plan on a 25-foot one. It also leaves plenty of room for kayaks, paddle boards and skis.

Before you buy for the garage: measure your vehicle’s height and length, then ask for the garage door height and bay depth in writing. “Sprinter height” isn’t a standard size.

Is it single-level living?

From the alley, yes. You pull into the garage, walk straight into the laundry room (with a sink), and everything is on one level. If you park on the street out front, there are stairs up to the door. That’s worth knowing if you’re planning for aging in place or visiting family.

What does the kitchen and living space feel like?

  • Great room: tall windows, built-in cabinets and a feature fireplace. It’s open, but gently separated from the kitchen and dining, not one big square.
  • Dining: windows on all sides and peekaboo mountain views. Because the home sits up on a rise, those views should hold after the commercial area is built.
  • Kitchen: a giant island with light quartz and soft gray-silver veining, European-style wood cabinets, a built-in refrigerator, a charcoal backsplash, a farm sink and a Bosch six-burner range.
  • Storage: a corner walk-in pantry, a built-in microwave in the island and two hall closets.

How are the bedrooms laid out?

  1. Bedroom one: connects to a full bath that also serves as the hall bath. It has floor-to-ceiling tile and a pocket door between the shower and the sink.
  2. Bedrooms two and three: share a Jack-and-Jill bath with two sinks and a pocket door, so one person can use the sink while another showers.
  3. Primary suite: room for a king bed plus a sitting area. The bath has a large walk-in closet, an all-white tile shower with a rain head and bench, and a private toilet room.

How do I buy a new home in Talline, Bend?

  1. Get pre-approved so you know your range before you fall for a floor plan.
  2. Bring your own agent on the first visit. Builder sales reps work for the builder. Many builders require your agent to be there (or registered) from the start.
  3. Compare builders. Talline has five, and finishes, warranties and timelines differ.
  4. Ask what’s next door. Vacant lots get built on. Ask about plans for the lots around you and for the commercial area.
  5. Check the school boundary for the exact address with Bend-La Pine Schools.
  6. Get an independent inspection, even on a brand-new home.
